The Sequatchie
County 4-H Wildlife Judging Team recently competed at the Central Region
Contest in Cookeville. Fourteen 4-H members from Sequatchie County were among
the eighty participants from eight counties taking part in the event. Team
members were: Bailey Scott, Zach Scott, Isaac Lloyd, and Deston Hobbs senior
high division, Katie Bragg, Taylor Scott, Shelley Griffith, and Joshua Griffith
junior high division, and in the junior division Daniel Scott, Casey Scott,
Drake Thompson, Gideon Lloyd, Ezra Lloyd, Libby Hendrick.
For the contest,
participants had to identify twenty animals and answer questions about the
animals, and evaluate a site and recommend management practices.
The senior team
was second overall and will be advancing to the State contest June 18, Bailey
Scott was the high individual scorer in the senior division and Zach Scott was
sixth highest individual. The junior high team was fourth overall with Shelley
Griffith recognized as third highest individual. Two junior teams competed. Sequatchie
Junior Team A of Daniel Scott, Casey Scott, and Drake Thompson placed
third. Recognized for individual scores in the junior division were sixth place
Daniel Scott, and tying for ninth Casey Scott and Libby Hendrick.
